TLW Challenge 10 May
The Challenge this week is to present an idea for a Mission for my Travel Bug, that I want to release at the May Camp.
If you’ve not heard of Travel Bugs, or Geocaching, read the following section before coming up with an answer. This week, if your response does not relate to the Challenge IT WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS TLW POINTS OR THE ACCUMULATION OF POINTS. You have been warned.
Geocaching is an electronic Hide and Seek. Caches have been hidden all round the world, the clues to their locations can be found on various geocaching websites such as www.geocaching.com.
A Cache is effectively a box, with a small log book in it to allow the finder to record they were there – the finder can also update their electronic log book to show that they found it as well.
In Some boxes, you can leave various things including TRAVEL BUGS. Each Travel bug can be spotted and recorded or taken from a Cache and left at another cache. You can set your Travel bug to complete a “Mission” or task – and those finding the bug will help it to achieve it’s mission. As an example, if I set a Travel bug with a mission to go from London to Glasgow, each time it was found it may be moved to a cache a little further north.
So, I’ve got one of these Travel Bugs. It looks like this:
[Above: an example travel bug, from http://www.trailexplorers.com]
I’d like to give it a mission. I’ve had a couple of ideas, but would like you Scouts to think of an idea as well. I am going to “personalise” it by adding the Troop flashes to it - and hopefully will be able to upload the images of us setting the bug off.
Good luck
